Large loss

What is a large loss?

A large loss is a claim whose size, complexity or number of locations puts it beyond routine handling — multiple buildings, thousands of items, specialised equipment, or several stakeholders at once. What distinguishes it operationally is the need to scale field resources while keeping one inventory and one reporting process.

Large is defined by complexity and stakeholder count as much as by dollar value. A single building with concentrated high-value machinery can be a straightforward assignment; four school campuses with a district calendar, a demolition schedule and a restoration contractor already on site is not, at any value.

What changes past that point is the constraint: not how fast property can be recorded, but whether the record holds together across several buildings, several weeks and several crews. See what makes a commercial loss a large loss.
