What personal data we collect and why
- Comments: The site collects what you enter in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user-agent, for spam detection. A hashed version of your email may be sent to Gravatar to check whether you have a profile. Once a comment is approved, your profile picture appears publicly next to it.
- Media: Visitors should avoid uploading images that contain embedded GPS (EXIF) location data, because others can download that data.
- Contact forms: When you submit a claim or contact us through a form on our website, we collect the information you provide. This may include your name, company name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and details about your claim, shipment, loss, or property, along with any files or photos you upload. We use this information to respond to your inquiry, evaluate and process your claim, provide our salvage, recovery, and appraisal services, and communicate with you about your request. Form submissions are stored [in our website database / in our email system / in our claims management system] and are accessible only to authorized US Claims Solutions staff.
- Cookies:
- Optional comment cookies save your name, email, and website for 1 year.
- A temporary cookie on the login page checks whether cookies are enabled. It holds no personal data and is removed when you close the browser.
- Login cookies last 2 days, or 2 weeks if you choose “Remember Me.” Screen-options cookies last 1 year. Login cookies are removed when you log out.
- Editing or publishing a post sets a cookie holding only the post ID. It expires after 1 day.
- Embedded content: Embedded videos, images, and similar content behave as if you visited the source site. Those sites may collect data, set cookies, and track you, especially if you’re logged in there.
- Analytics: We use Google Analytics, through Google Tag Manager and Google Site Kit, to understand how visitors use our website, such as which pages are viewed, how long visitors stay, and how they arrived at our site. This data is used in aggregate to improve our website and does not directly identify you. How long we retain your data
- Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely, so follow-up comments can be approved automatically.
- Registered users’ profile information is stored. Users can view, edit, or delete it at any time, except their username. Admins can also see and edit it.
What rights you have over your data
- If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an export of your personal data or ask for it to be erased. Data kept for administrative, legal, or security reasons is excluded.

- Comments may be checked by an automated spam-detection service.

- Insurance carriers, adjusters, and claims parties involved in the claim you submit.

We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you. Decisions about claims, salvage, and valuations are made by our staff.
Industry regulatory disclosure requirements
US Claims Solutions provides salvage, claims recovery, and appraisal service. When we handle information on behalf of insurance carriers, we follow the privacy and confidentiality requirements those carriers and applicable state insurance regulations place on us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws, such as the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act.
